New Video for Wagon Christ's "Chunkothy" is a Cartoon Trip

When you hear Wagon Christ’s tracks, right away you think, “This would go really well with a cartoon.”

The quirky sounds, light melodies, claps, cowbells, and laser sounds are just begging for some soft-colored, rounded animations to dance around to them.

They used silly, Kid Koala-esque robots for “Receiver,” sweeping anime landscapes for “Shadows,” and now for “Chunkothy” we get rapidly changing shapes, shifting layouts, and bouncing balls mirrored twice over.

The constantly changing visuals are mesmerizing in a simple and playful way. One thing morphs into another and then another, but not in that serious “Whoa… what does that mean?” way like in Flying Lotus’ “Zodiac $#!+.”

Director and animator Celyn Brazier basically picked Toomorrow‘s cover art to pieces and made it dance to the beat. He explains some of the process on his blog.
