Montreal's Ango Will Own Summer Starting from Day One
Ango’s EP is coming out in time for summer. As soon as it’s warm, overly mirthful music stops being annoying and becomes the soundtrack to shorts-wearing, cold beer swigging fun.
I’m guessing Ango’s got Wild Styles and Beat Street in constant DVD rotation. The Montreal beatmaker feels no guilt in using 808 sounds to construct breakbeats and lay deliciously cheesy vocals over them. But this isn’t just throwback music. It improves on the awesome tradition of B-boy music that rose and fell in in decades past.
Once summer hits, be careful with this record! You’ll feel repeated urges to start popping and locking while it’s playing, but you must resist. No one likes to see attempted drunken B-boying.
Check out a six minute collection of song snippets from Ango’s upcoming EP. It’s an amalgamation of bass, R&B, breakbeat, and (dare I say!) disco.
