Inko Makes Tropical Beats in Norway and Sends Them Home
If there’s one producer from Norway you could see releasing music on a Dominican focused label, it’s Inko. His first release on DR-based Stereoptico, Tropical Offbeats, is named for exactly what it sounds like.
The beats take stutter so far that each percussive sound is totally off beat, but these dissonant sounds form a pattern that you can’t stop listening to. You’ll be bobbing your head before you know it.
Blended in with the same stop-and-go style are jazz samples that give the tracks an organic, tropical feel. This is apocalyptic beach music. How about if we call it “Acocalypso.”
Tropical Offbeats just dropped a couple of weeks ago, and it showcases Inko’s unusual take on beatmaking, which falls in well with the rest of the wonky Stereoptico roster.
