Kan Sano Bids the World a Fantastic Farewell
Tokyo-based beatmaker Kan Sano just dropped his jazz and hip hop infused LP Fantastic Farewell, and the smoothness is undeniable.
Kan brings back the days of hip hop production when a beatmaker was only as good as his sample picks, and he arranged those picks in a way that make a brand new song out of old songs.
Fans of Madlib and Declaime’s joint instrumental work will dig this. The instrument sounds are nice and clean, and the drums swing just a tad to give it some funk. Sounds like his jazz training at Berklee is guiding him through the whole record.
Fantastic Farewell is all emotive melodies, some hopeful and some somber, an appropriate vibe for the disaster in his home country which he has been active in supporting through music since it all happened last month.
