Co. Fee Fooled You by Calling This Easy Listening
Crunk beats live.
If you’ve ever described the stuff from the LA beat scene as “dreamy,” this is the stuff of nightmares.
Co. Fee’s tracks are dark, grinding, and hardly easy on the ears. Every percussive sound is tweaked to hit the part of your eardrum that will either make you say “AAHH!!” or “yeaaahh…” depending on what kind of person you are.
I’m definitely more on the “yeaaahhhh…..” tip when it comes to his album Easy Listening, which drops today on My Hollow Drum.
While the foundation of these tracks is hip hop across eras, Co. Fee has apparently got a hankering for classic Bollywood samples. On more than one occasion on Easy Listening, he drops in some high pitched female vocals surely cut from an Indian soundtrack.
