The Evolving Beats of Australia's Galapagoose

Daedelus recently mentioned a fella from Australia called Galapagoose. In an interview with 92BPM, he mentioned that a record from Galapagoose would be released under his Magical Properties imprint.

Though I don’t always go ape over Daedelus’ own stuff, I have immense respect for his taste, and he’s right to unleash Galapagoose onto the world.

Following LA’s Jogger, Italy’s My Dry Wet Mess, Texan LDFD, Melbourne-based Galapagoose will be the fourth artist with Daedelus’ stamp on the cover.

His style is equal parts bubbling synths and classic drum machines. There are samples buried between those two elements, a guitar line here, a classical flute there, but they’re so diced up you’ll hardly noticed.

Galapagoose’s music is solid, and pretty straightforward when you think of Daedelus. The beats are all accessible and even catchy at times. The track below, “Milkwood,” is a track off Parquet, Galapagoose’s EP that dropped last March. A couple months before that, he self-released EP2. Both are ill, but here’s waiting for that full length on Magical Properties.
