New Heat from LA Preserver of Funk Dâm-Funk
Pasadena’s Dâm-Funk has never gone the conventional route with his releases, starting out on Stone’s Throw in 2009 with the 5 LP Toeachizown and following it with Adolescent Funk, a collection of tracks he made as a youngin.
The proof is in the pudding. The man knows his funk. He just posted a new track on his Soundcloud page that is yet another morsel on the gooey, tasty pile of evidence.
“Stayin’ Super Fly” utilizes Dâm-Funk’s collection of classic synths and his sense for smoothness. This is what G-Funk would sound like today if big time rap music in the west hadn’t turn into garbage. Or maybe this is what it would have sounded like back in the day.
One way or another, this is what it should sound like. Thanks, Dâm-Funk.
