Venetian Snares and Chili Pepper John Frusciante Collab on Speed Dealer Moms
What a random collaboration.
When you think of Winnipeg, Canada’s Venetian Snares, you think of super fast drum ‘n bass, abrasive noises, and 7/8 time. What you DON’T think of is the Red Hot Chili Peppers, or their on again off again guitarist John Frusciante. That’s why Speed Dealer Moms is such a strange combination.
The two musicians started working together in 2008 in Venetian Snares’ native Winnipeg, putting together songs that are apparently too long to put on any record. They put together a live performance, but the universe just wouldn’t let them deliver it to a crowd, and their shows kept getting cancelled.
Finally, Planet Mu just announced that the first Speed Dealer Moms release is now available. But where the heck is it!? This project has reached mythical proportions due to the sheer weirdness of the combo and the fact that there are no tracks posted anywhere.
The only sliver of sound I could find is at the beginning of the minimix below. If this is what’s coming, we should all getting hype right about now. Also below, further photographic evidence that this is real.
