Northern Ireland's SertOne Previews His Debut Release
Interesting move, Northern Ireland.
He might look like a pale, nerdy, skinny little kid, and that’s because Irish producer SertOne is exactly that. Y’know what else? The kid makes totally sick beats. The 21-year-old, now based in Liverpool, has been a DJ since the tender age of 11. He entered the world of beat making around five years later, and today has a honed skill for the boom bap.
Along with two other youngins, SertOne formed Melted Music, which is set to launch this month with SertOne’s debut A View From Above. If you’re in Belfast, hit up their launch party. This is most certainly the beginning of something.
Irish hip hop actually has a history that goes pretty far back, and we’ve talked a little about the humor in it. But this pint-sized beat man from the North is a bit more serious, riding the wave of evolution that is altering hip hop worldwide. The world is a smaller place, and no locale is insular any longer. Here’s some evidence.
Here’s a little sound off of SertOne’s debut.
