Paris Suit Yourself Releasing an Unspeakable Album on Valentine's Day
Paris, suit yourself.
Even though it will come out alongside fare that is more traditionally Ninja Tune‘s Big Dada imprint (not-quite-hip hop, not-quite-electronica), this album from Paris Suit Yourself, My Main S**tstain, is an entity unto itself. The group consists of musicians from Paris, Brodeaux, and the American south, all based in Berlin. But none of that has any bearing on their sound. In fact, it’s hard to pin down what their “sound” is based on this collection of songs. The only sure thing is that they are a band.
Sometimes they sound like TV On the Radio, sometimes like Dead Kennedys, sometimes like System of a Down. That list could go on and on, like an assortment of totally random styles. There’s rapping and singing, real drums and fake drums, distorted and clean, heavy and light. This stuff is not punky because of the style of music, necessarily. Rather, it’s in the attitude.
They’re album is out on Valentine’s Day, but by no means is this traditional love-time music. In fact, your boo would have to be pretty twisted to find this stuff romantic. Well… make that decision for yourself.
