ShaMANoid Rocks Guatemala with Psy Trance

And now, for something fast and intense…

It must be awesome to see ShaMANoid live just to watch a dancing fools in the crowd get tripped up when a hard and fast dance beat suddenly breaks down into jittery static noise. Another reason it would be awesome is that he has been known to throw parties in ancient Mayan temples, caverns, and volcanoes.

The UK artist has been active in Guatemala for some time now, creating a sound consistent with the current hippy rave movement, but taking it to new levels of psychedelia.

ShaMANoid started out in the mid 90s with a project called Divine Soma Experiment. That’s right, he’s had the hippy concept happening since the beginning. The music he makes under the ShaMANoid moniker is like audible Alex Grey art: structured yet dreamy, and plenty psychedelic.

As you might have guessed, ShaMANoid has made appearances at Burning Man, as well festivals that used a digital themed font on their flyers in the late 90s. Spiritual destinations seem to be his venue of choice, and when you see phrases like “secret jungle location,” “boat trip included,” and “hidden world’s caves” printed on a flyer, you know that it’s going to be a party.
