Dorian Concept Laments About Fruit Flavored Sadness
Dorian Concept just keeps giving us reasons to like him.
Our recent Bands We Like post about him covered some of the EPs the Austrian has put out on Kindred Spirits in the past year or so. Shortly following that, we heard he would be performing at Royal Albert Hall with the Cinematic Orchestra and Amon Tobin for Ninja Tune XX, the 20th anniversary of what is arguable the UK’s finest electronic imprint.
Dorian’s track “Her Tears Taste Like Pears” appears on disc one of the compilation released for Ninja Tune XX, and now an EP of the same title is dropping on Ninja Tune. It looks like Dorian Concept is quickly falling in with the ranks of some of the most influential electronic artists and producers of the day. Ninja has tapped plenty of young producers creating work in the dubstep vein, but Dorian’s sound is one that stands apart. His skill on the keys and the thick sound of his production are taking him places.
If you’re into newer LA producers like Flying Lotus, TOKiMONSTA, Nosaj Thing, and Daedelus, Dorian Concept is likely something you could get into. The beats are big, the ambient layering is dense, and it bounces unprovoked.
